If you’re reading this article more than likely you have a friend or family member who runs their own business.  Well sometimes our family and friends have products and services that we may not always need.  However, you still can show support without always having to spend money.  Below are five ways you can support your loved ones who are on their entrepreneur journey.

  1. Share Their Content. Entrepreneurs who have an online presence will usually post blogs, articles, flyers, and any other content that is used to support their business. If they post any material, a simple share on your Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter, or Instagram could truly help expand their territory.

  2. Refer Them to Family, Friends, and Co-workers. Your coworker needs a dress designer and your friend happens to design beautiful dresses for special occasions. As a supportive friend it would be nice of you to refer your friend. Many entrepreneurs receive a ton of business through word of mouth. So a simple referral has the potential to lead to even more referrals. Every single referral might not lead to a sale but at least you did your part of showing support.

  3. Assist. The to do list of an entrepreneur is never ending and sometimes just a little help can make a huge difference. Ask to work their social media for a week, help with an event, create flyers, proof read articles, or just be a listening ear. As an entrepreneur I can tell you that a little help goes a long way.

  4. Educate Yourself. Taking it upon yourself to learn about their business can go a long way. It shows that you are supportive, interested, and care about what’s going on in their business.

  5. Simply Be A Friend. There will be times when their business life is taken care of but their personal life is falling a part. Be willing to watch the kids, pet sit, do the laundry, treat them to a spa day, or even pick up dinner. Finding the balance between personal and business life can be extremely difficult so taking the time to assist with their personal responsibilities can be a tremendous help.

From this moment, moving forward, you now have something that you can do to support your loved ones who are pursing entrepreneurship.  Being your own boss is not easy, so any help and support is definitely appreciated.  Trust me, I know.  I put my family and friends to work when I host events.  I’ll be the first to tell you that having supportive family and friends has truly made my entrepreneur journey a lot easier.
